How do I factory reset the EC2 (400i) controller?

How do I factory reset the EC2 (400i) controller?

Caution!

The following procedure will reset an EC2 (400i) controller to its factory default settings.  This includes the IP address and typically the firmware version shipped with the unit.  If you assign an invalid IP address to the AXP400i Controller, you may not be able to communicate with the unit.  If you have upgraded the controller’s firmware since installation, ensure that you check the version before and upgrade again immediately after this procedure is complete and upgrade as necessary.

Restore the Controller’s factory default settings as follows:

  1. Remove the lid of the controller by removing the six screws securing it to the base.
  2. With power applied to the AXP400i Controller, place a link across the pins of the Factory Default Jumper Link (LK4). (See the image below for board layout)
  3. Observe the Ethernet and CPU Diagnostic LEDs as they switch OFF then ON signaling that restoration has taken place.  To ensure the factory default has been applied, please leave the jumper in place for 60 seconds or longer.
  4. Remove the jumper.

The network parameters will now be reset to the following:

IP Address: 192.168.100.1

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

DHCP will be ON

*If you have upgraded the Controller’s firmware since initial installation, you may have to upgrade again immediately after this procedure is complete.  The silver sticker on the EC2 (400i) controller unit should reflect the shipped firmware version.

Factory Reset legacy Amano IP Cameras (sold prior to 2018)

Factory Reset legacy Amano IP Cameras (sold prior to 2018)

Resetting a camera back to the factory default will initialize all settings and parameters including the IP address back to the factory defaults.  You may find the default IP by looking at the last four characters of the MAC address.

NOTE: this article only applies to legacy cameras sold prior to 2018.

To revert the camera back to its factory defaults:

  1. Remove the dome lid.
  2. Press and hold the white reset button while powering up the unit, release the button after 10 seconds.
  3. Wait for the camera to reboot.

The factory default details below include an IP that is determined by last four characters of the MAC.  Each of the last two octets are equivalent to their HEX to Decimal conversion.

IP Format:

192.168.yy.zz

MAC xx:xx:xx:xx:yy:zz

Example:

11:22:33:44:AB:CD

AB HEX = 171 DEC

CD HEX = 205 DEC

Therefore, default Camera IP with a MAC ending in AB:CD would be 192.168.171.205.

NOTE: Hex to Decimal calculators are built into most phones and computers, however, you can use a website like calculator.net.

Defaults:

IP address: 192.168.xx.yy

Network mask: 255.255.0.0

Gateway: 192.168.0.1

User ID: root

Password: pass

Setting IP on PMTronics Inc. Access Control Hardware

Setting IP on PMTronics Inc. Access Control Hardware

Summary on how to set the IP on Amano Access Control Hardware

  1. Ensure your PC Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection IP address is set within range (192.168.100.xx) of the default IP address (192.168.100.1).
  2. Factory reset the unit (on the center set of dip switches turn switch 1 to on, power cycle, after the unit turn on wait 60 seconds, turn switch 1 to off…this will set the IP address to 192.168.100.1)
  3. Plug directly into the unit from your PC and CMD ping the unit at factory default IP address. Ensure you’re getting a reply from the unit’s IP
  4. Use the discovery utility to connect to the unit. Double click on the unit to bring up the Configuration dialog box. (Password is masterkey, except on 400i which is impro)
  5. Without changing any if the IP information set IP address, subnet, and gateway to static by checking the three boxes on the right. Again…DO NOT change any of the IP information.
  6. Select update
  7. Use the discovery utility to discover the unit…this time there should be a green check mark in the Static column. (If not start over from Step 1)
  8. Double click on the unit to bring up the Configuration dialog box. The 3 static boxes should still be checked
  9. Change IP address, subnet, and gateway
  10. Check the “Force Update” check box
  11. Select update

If you followed the procedure the IP address will change and you will no longer be able to CMD ping the address (192.168.100.1) or see it in the Discovery Utility until you change the IP address on your PC to be in the range that you changed the device to.
