AmanoNet

AutoID IP Hardware in AmanoNet

AutoID IP Hardware in AmanoNet

Auto-ID is a process that polls Controllers to identify their type and their Logical Address. Similarly, other units such as Terminals are also polled and identified. Newly connected units are assigned Logical Addresses.

Before beginning, ensure all terminals are powered up, dip switches are set, and IP addresses are configured

Ensure the Engine is stopped.  Open Discovery Utility (C:\AmanoNet\bin\NetDiscovery.exe)

Grouping

The purpose of the group name is for grouping Controllers with their dependent IP Terminals.

On display of the Controllers and Terminals, the following icons appear: the  icon represents non-linked Controllers. The  icon represents Terminals and the  icon represents Controllers with linked Terminals. On expanding the Controller tree, the  icon displays, with the linked Terminals displaying below.  Group Controllers and Terminals as follows:

Creating a Group for a Controller and its Terminals

NOTE: It is unnecessary to give a group name to a Controller if it has no IP Terminals.

  1. Select the Controller and the Terminals it should control.
  2. On the menu bar, go to Configuration > Add to Group.
  3. In the Enter Group Name dialog, enter a suitable group name.
  4. Logon if requested. (EC2/400i password is “impro”, password for all other hardware is “masterkey”)
  5. Click the  button.

Adding Terminals to Existing Controller Groups

  1. Select the Terminal(s) to be added to the Group.
  2. On the menu bar, go to Configuration > Add to Group.
  3. In the Select the Group Name dialog, double-click on your chosen group name row.
  4. Logon if requested
  5. Click the  button.

Assign a Logical Address

A new Controller has the default Logical Address FF. To assign a new Logical Address:

  1.  In the Discovery Utility, select the Controllers  to be configured.
  2. On the menu bar, go to Configuration>Configure LA.
  3. Type the new hexadecimal Logical Address in the text field.
  4. Click the  button to confirm.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each selected Controller.

IMPORTANT: The same Logical Address should not be used more than once per Site. To prevent this, select all the Controllers and Terminals on a Site. Go to Configuration > Query LA. The Logical Addresses display in the LA column on the right-hand side of the table. Ensure that the Logical Address is not repeated. IF this is a new controller you will have a logical address of FF. This must also be changed to a new LA.

Export the Configuration File

Controller and Terminal configuration information is made available to AmanoNet Modules as follows:

  1. Select the Controller(s) to be added to the Site. Only necessary to select the Controller(s) as the grouped Terminal(s) automatically export with their grouped Controller.
  2. On the menu bar, go to File > Export IP Config.
  3. In the Save dialog, enter a file name.
  4. Click on the Save button.

Import the Discovery File

Import the Configuration File as follows:

  1. Open Engine (C:\AmanoNet\bin\Engine.exe)
  2. On the menu bar click Configuration > Import Devices.
  3. Type in the location of the Discovery Configuration File OR click to browse for the file (C:\AmanoNet\Discovery.txt)
  4. Click the  button.
  5. Click Yes to confirm

Activate UDP Communications

Activate the UDP communication option in AmanoNet Engine as follows:

  1. On the menu bar, click Configuration > Engine Properties
  2. Tick the UDP comms option
  3. Click the  button to confirm

Auto ID

  1. Start the Auto-ID process by clicking the Auto ID button.
  2. After the Auto-ID is complete, click the start button in the Engine.

NOTE: You may have to refresh or restart Access to see your new hardware in the tree.

AmanoNet System Migration Notes

AmanoNet System Migration Notes

While it is possible to migrate from AmanoNet to OMNIA, it is important that you understand that this service is limited and that only select data will be migrated.

Because of the complexity of the migration, Amano offers a conversion service to migrate data from an AmanoNet system to an OMNIA system (from Firebird Server or Microsoft SQL Server).

The following data is NOT migrated from the AmanoNet database

  • Transactions (we can migrate up to 30 days’ worth of access transactions at an additional cost, if conversion is being done by Amano)
  • 3rd party biometric readers
  • Hosted visitor relationships to hosts
  • Master notes
  • Truncation settings
  • Interleading and nested zones
  • Other miscellaneous settings

If there is a need to refer to transactions from the AmanoNet system for historical purposes, it is recommended that this is done via AmanoNet reports from the old AmanoNet database.

ECII system controllers are not compatible with OMNIA, and must be replaced with the appropriate controller for the new system. An APC or ECIII
